"Wants and Needs"
To want is to have a desire to posses something. To need is to require something because it is essential.
Furthering the purpose of a Prada print ad, exploring consumer culture, Miami-based fashion merchandiser Kyle DuBois offers an essential graphic tee, titled “Wants and Needs.”
Drawing inspiration from Drake and Lil Baby’s five-time platinum song “Wants and Needs,” the graphic artwork features a handmade photomontage, made exclusively of cut and pasted magazines. Additionally, each garment is handled like a work of fine art, screen-printed locally in Miami, accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.
Per Section 107 of the Copyright Act, Kyle’s transformative use of the Prada print advertisement adds something new, with a further purpose, and does not substitute for the original. Furthermore, the artist’s unlicensed use does not harm the existing or future market for Prada’s work.
This impossibly soft unisex garment-dyed heavyweight graphic tee is made of six-ounce, one-hundred percent ring-spun cotton. The relaxed-fit shirt is topstitched, with a classic width, rib collar, and shoulder-to-shoulder twill tape.
To remove pressure marks around the front and back graphic, we recommend washing before use. As our craftsmanship can be obsessive, each garment is screen-printed four times on each side.
Kyle DuBois was born in Washington, D.C., and raised in Daegu, Korea—a textile manufacturing city. He earned a BA in fashion merchandising from Miami International University of Art and Design, and has worked for the likes of Nike, Urban Outfitters, Diesel, MCM, Adidas, Apple, and the Miami Heat.
